The Big 3 Bail Out: Do they need it?

President Bush approved the bail out of the big three car makers, but do they need it? In the short term yes, due to the massive loss of jobs if they go under. This would cause us to plummet even further into a recession that is coming. It would rise the unemployed and have many wondering what they are going to do next. My father in law has worked for GM for the past 30 years, if he were to suddenly lose his job, what would he do? He could not go back to masonry work due to parts of his body failing him that he would need to do that type of work. This is how many would be, at a loss of what to do next. Long term, no, this is business, and business is a competition, and someone has to lose. Everyone in the car business knows that there will be more cars than people needing them by the year 2030, however everyone of them thought that it would not be them. By letting these business fall, it would put many out of work, however, this would allow the growth of those other car business, and in turn they would need to build new factories, recreating those jobs. Now in my opinion, yes, they need the bail out, and there should be some middle ground. The only thing stopping it was that the companies did not want any provisions that the government wanted, or they did not show a good solid plan to change the way they are doing business in order to get out of this financial distress. If those companies keep business as usual, then no, they do not need the bail out because in the end, they will only need help again. If they change their current business plan and show a good solid framework for getting out of the hole they are digging deeper, then yes, give it to them, and gave those jobs. In the end, Bush has already given it to them with provisions against them.
